- Recommended Hotels
- Prospective participants who need accommodation are advised to make necessary arrangements and reservations early on, either directly with the hotels or through hotel and/or travel reservation sites of their choices.
- Downtown Kobe is not around Kobe Station. When local people refer to downtown Kobe, they mean areas around San-no-miya Station, which may be spelled conventionally as Sannomiya Station. Even in Japanese, we have fluctuating expressions of 三ノ宮 and 三宮.
- Hotel rates in Japan are usually but not necessarily always quoted as per person per night and not as per room per night.
- Do not forget to specify "non-smoking" if that is your preference.
- The following hotels are relatively conveniently located, from/to the airports and/or from/to the university. Rates may change dramatically between now and when international tourism resumes.

- JR West
- brief and unofficial logistic instructions
- Fly in to Kansai International Airport and take a shuttle bus to San-no-miya.
- You can also consider flying into Haneda and/or Fukuoka International Airports.
- Your airline may offer connecting flights to Itami (Osaka) or to Kobe (Osaka) and a shuttle bus service will get you to San-no-miya.
- Otherwise, you can fly domestic to Kobe Airport by Skymark, which is usually cheaper than JAL / ANA and a frequent 20-minute Port-liner ride will get you to San-no-miya Station.
- You can take Shinkansen from Shinagawa (or Tokyo) or from Fukuoka to Shin-Osaka and get to San-no-miya by JR-West. Shin-Kobe is an option I would not recommend for this purpose.
- You can take Shinkansen from Fukuoka to Shin-Kobe and get to San-no-miya Station by city subway.
